The young niece of famous NASCAR racer and son of a legend, Dale Earnhardt Jr., was involved in one of the most brutal and scary crashes we have seen in a very long time.
Truly, racing is in the Earnhardt family blood, and it would be hard to keep any of them off the track for long (even Dale Jr. is set to hit the track again on Sept. 1st). But, with racing, there is an inherent amount of danger nobody can avoid.
Love @DaleJr just casually dropping #XfinitySeries news we’ve all been waiting for in a tweet to a fan of all places. https://t.co/ph9tIQUL66

Dale Jr.’s niece, Karsyn Elledge, is the daughter of his older sister Kelley Earnhardt-Miller. Kelley works at the family racing team JR Motorsports and has for many years.
During a recent USAC Race in Oklahoma, Karsyn was participating in a midget car event at Red Dirt Raceway when she lost control of the vehicle and began flying through the air, completely clearing the catch-fence.
This is her first season in the USAC National Midget Series and she’s not only following her uncle and grandfather’s footsteps, but her dad’s as well. Jimmy Elledge, Karsyn’s dad and Kelley’s ex-husband, has been involved in almost every single part of NASCAR for decades – and now owns his own team.
Watch the entire accident unfold from home, Kelley tweeted her reaction to the accident out shortly afterward and shared the news that Karsyn was okay – albeit a bit shaken.
.@KarsynElledge3 is ok, shaken up as you can imagine. Thanks for everyone checking on her and being concerned!
