‘Dancing With The Stars’ Pro Sidelined Following Painful Injury

Season 24 of Dancing With The Stars started out with a bang last week! All twelve couples were finally able to show off what they’ve been learning the last couple weeks in rehearsal.

Gold medal gymnast Simone Biles took home the night’s highest scores, while bull rider Bonner Bolton remains the most talked about contestant.

Glee star Heather Morris showed off her ballroom skills with a magical Viennese Waltz, proving that DWTS is completely different than her previous training in hip hop and jazz. The minute their dance was over, she and her pro partner, Maskim Chmerkovskiy, began rehearsing for their next dance – a jive.

While cameras were rolling, Chmerkovskiy yelled out in pain during a move and said, “It’s my calf muscle!

After a few moments, he told Morris, “It just felt like something hit it.” Although Chmerkovskiy is one tough cookie, the pain has proven to be too much.

Good Morning America revealed he will not be competing with Morris for Monday night’s (March 27) show. No word yet on who will be replacing Chmerkovskiy, but if history repeats itself, troupe dancer Alan Bersten will step in. He has previously stepped in for Gleb Savchenko when he hurt his knee during Season 23, and for Mark Ballas when he was sidelined a few seasons ago.

Chmerkovskiy wrote a heartfelt note to the DWTS fans on Monday. See it below.
