Over the course of his career, Darius Rucker has earned an extraordinary amount of honors and awards. He’s won a few Grammys, been named as a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and has numerous hit songs.
Now, Rucker can add one more honor to that impressive list…he has been immortalized in wax.
The Madame Tussauds wax museum is known as one of the most popular tourist attractions in various cities around the world. Tourists who stroll into the museum get the chance to pose with wax figures of some of the world’s most famous celebrities and historical figures.
On April 14, the city of Nashville will become home to the newest Madame Tussauds location. The museum will be the first in the U.S. to focus entirely on music, with wax figures representing artists from all genres.
Of course, country artists will be well-represented in the museum. Rucker is one of the latest artists revealed to have a figure at the new attraction. Previous artists who have unveiled their figures include Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, and Reba McEntire.
Rucker’s figure will be particularly unique, as it is the first figure in the museum’s history to feature interactive projection technology. This new technology will project video taken from Rucker’s measurement session on to the figure for all to see.
More than 300 measurements of Rucker were taken in order to create his wax likeness. Rucker donated the all of the clothes that his figure is wearing, including his stylish cowboy boots.
Rucker finally got the chance to meet his wax twin, and you can tell from the photos taken that day that he was happy with what he saw. Rucker expressed his fascination with the whole process, saying how much this latest honor means to him:
“Having my own figure and going through the whole process on this Madame Tussauds journey makes me feel as if I’ve truly made it to the next level as an artist. When guests visit the attraction, it will be like I’m really there because of this cool technology. I’m super excited for the fans to come and check this out.”
Rucker’s new wax figure isn’t the only thing he has to celebrate right now. He recently released a new single, titled “If I Told You.” You can give that song a listen below.
