Darius Rucker Just Kicked Off His Summer Tour, Darius Rucker Live
On July 10, Darius Rucker began his summer tour, Darius Rucker Live, that will take him all over America and Canada until December 13.
The day he kicked off tour, he released all the dates and said, “I’ve been waiting for this moment… we’re back baby!! Can’t wait to hear all of you singing!! What show are you going to?”

His first few shows in Maryland and Virginia went off without a hitch. The Hootie and the Blowfish frontman celebrated the tour by sharing several photos from the tour alongside the caption, “Had ourselves a good time in Doswell, VA!”
Darius Couldn’t Get Through Show #3 Of The Tour
Rucker was scheduled to perform in Atlantic City at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, July 12. He opened the show with “Life’s Too Short,” followed by “It Won’t Be Like This For Long” and “For The First Time.”
According to American Songwriter, his voice cut out increasingly with each song, and after just three songs, Rucker knew he couldn’t continue the concert due to vocal strain.
He stopped the show to tell the crowd, “I can’t sing anymore.“
Audience members let out audible gasps and even tried to encourage him by chanting his name, but Rucker knew his voice.
“I’ve really never done this before. I just can’t sing anymore. I can’t sing,” he continued. “Y’all, I can’t sing anymore. I will play one more song. I promise you we’re gonna figure this out. We’re gonna get your money back, we’re gonna figure this out. I just can’t sing. I’ve never done this before. This is the first time in the 40-year history of my career that I can’t sing.”
He reiterated, “I promise you on everything that I stand for, that I will make this up to you guys.”
Rucker looked and sounded extremely upset, so you know he must have really been struggling to stop the show after just a few songs.

Despite the disappointment, the fans in attendance understood. Watch the moment Rucker stops the concert in the video below.
Rucker did as promised by playing one more song before walking off stage. That song, of course, was “Wagon Wheel.”
Darius Issues Full Refunds To Concert-Goers
While he was hoping to be able to reschedule the concert for a date later this year, it turns out he wasn’t able to. So instead, he issued full refunds to everyone in attendance.
“Atlantic City,” he wrote on his Instagram Story, “Thank you so much for coming out Saturday night. I feel awful and I’m so sorry — I have never lost my voice in all my years of performing. We looked at every option to reschedule, but unfortunately, it’s just not possible this year, so we’re issuing full refunds.”
The singer told fans that the venue would send them details regarding the refund.

Rucker’s tour continues on Saturday, July 19 in Hollywood, Florida, so we hope he’s getting some much-needed rest and will feel better by then!
