A Dixie Chicks Hit Finds New Life As A Conservative Anthem

A Dixie Chicks song, “Not Ready to Make Nice,” is the center of a political disagreement on TikTok.

The band released the song on March 20, 2006, in response to the backlash they received when they criticized the sitting president, George W. Bush.

Since then, the Dixie Chicks have been very vocal about their political beliefs; the band even played at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

Here are the lyrics that have sparked an internet trend:

“I made my bed and I sleep like a baby.

With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’,

It’s a sad, sad story when a mother will teach her

Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.

And how in the world can the words that I said,

Send somebody so over the edge,

That they’d write me a letter, sayin’ that I better,

Shut up and sing or my life will be over.”

Now, What Is Happening On TikTok?

After Donald Trump was elected to become the 47th president of the United States, an interesting discourse began in the media and on the internet. The discussion questioned why liberal voters struggled to understand anyone’s support for Trump.

In response to the rhetoric, Trump supporters took to TikTok and claimed the Chick’s political song as their own.

As seen in the video below, they are taking the song and singing it proudly.Trump supporters connect with the lyrics, “I made my bed, and I sleep like a baby. With no regrets, and I don’t mind sayin’.”

The creators of this trend are expressing pride in their vote and seem to have no regrets about their decision.

Another creator took a crack at the trend, sharing, “I bet Chicks never thought that this song would resonate with conservative women.”

@loren_elizabeth55Always did love this song…..♬ Not Ready To Make Nice by The Chicks – Kylee

Some creators are taking a different route and sharing their personal experiences with hate on the internet due to their political views.

However, not everyone is happy with the trend.

Liberals are responding with videos pointing out that the song is not for conservatives but about them.

@cynthiajwheelerI don’t know why TT keeps feeding me women voting against women using The Dixie Chicks as the soundtrack. 🤷‍♀️ Do your homework. Doesn’t Kid Rock have a song for you? 💙♬ Not Ready To Make Nice by The Chicks – Kylee

Conservatives seem unfazed by the trend’s backlash and are taking to social media with response videos like this one.
