Jason Aldean Opens Up About His Long-Term Friendship With Donald Trump
In an in-depth interview with Tucker Carlson, Jason Aldean discussed his political views and his friendship with the previous president. Tucker opened the conversation by asking Aldean, “What do you think of Trump?”
Aldean paused and responded, “I love Trump, man.”
Tucker then asked how Aldean got to know Trump in the first place. The “Try That in a Small Town” singer opened up about their first meeting:
“So we ended up getting invited to a New Year’s at Mar-a-Lago one year.” Aldean further explained, “He invited me to play golf with him that morning, and so I went and had breakfast with him and played golf. Came back, had lunch, and then saw him at that thing and just kind of hit it off.”
They were later spotted sitting together during the Republican National Convention. Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, is also an avid Trump supporter. The trio was spotted on Brittany’s Instagram, where she wrote:
“WE LOVE YOU @realdonaldtrump 🇺🇸🇺🇸The ones with a brain can see through the smear campaign.”

Jason Aldean’s Political Opinion
When Aldean was later asked about why he is outspoken about his political views, he said:
“I finally just came to a conclusion of like, man. You know, I think I’m right. I just think I’m on the right side of this. And, like, you know, I have a platform to be able to go out and say stuff”
Aldean has been scrutinized in recent years for his political views, specifically his single “Try That in a Small Town.” Some argued that the song had violent and racist undertones, which Aldean has flat-out denied.
The critiques reached an all-time high following the release of the song’s official music video, which was pulled off CMT. The reason for the controversy was the fact that the video was filmed in front of the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee, which has served as the backdrop for several displays of racially motivated violence.
Despite the controversy, “Try That in a Small Town” became a #1 country and crossover hit. Watch the controversial video below.
