During the Ukraine crisis, there is one puppy dog that is making his rounds and becoming famous in the war-torn country for discovering Russian bombs found throughout eastern Ukraine.

The 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier is named Patron, which means ‘Ammo’ in Ukrainian and he is officially a member of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The awesome dog is currently based in the northern Ukraine city of Chernihiv, where he has become the mascot of Chernihiv pyrotechnicians.

Patron has detected more than 90 Russian bombs in Ukraine.

The Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security under the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine shared a tweet applauding Patron’s work:

“A dog called Patron, who works with SES rescuers in Chernihiv, has helped defuse nearly 90 explosive devices since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Patron’s story will be turned into a film, but for now, he is faithfully performing his professional duties.”

The little dog is often seen wearing a military protective vest whenever he heads out to sift through the dirt and other rubble in order to find unexploded bombs.

Authorities said that Jack Russell Terriers are often chosen to be sniffer dogs because they are excellent hunting dogs that have incredible instincts.

Also, due to their small size,  they can squeeze into tight spaces humans currently can’t reach to find the bombs.
