One year ago, Dolly Parton teamed up with NBCUniversal to celebrate the spirit of the Olympics and the 2024 Paris Games.
The music video for “We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You,” features Dolly Parton belting out the popular Queen anthems.
Parton’s voice is combined with footage of iconic Olympic athletes, including legendary gymnasts Simone Biles and Suni Lee, hurdling gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, the record-breaking sprinter Noah Lyles, and gold medal-winner Katie Ledecky.
Dolly Parton’s love for the Olympics shines through in every frame of the music video. “I love the Olympics! I do my best to plan my schedule to watch as much of it as I possibly can,” the iconic singer shared in a press release, according to TODAY. “I laugh, I cry, I scream, there are no losers in the Olympics as they have all spent a lifetime preparing but I celebrate with the ones that go away with the gold, silver, and bronze medals.”
Jenny Storms, chief marketing officer of Entertainment and Sports at NBCUniversal, couldn’t have said it better when she called Dolly Parton the “perfect” choice for this endeavor.
As a close member of the NBCUniversal family and a self-proclaimed Olympic super-fan, Parton’s passion for the Games shines through. Her rendition of “We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You” is bound to get America pumped up for Team USA and the thrilling events taking place in Paris.
The song, a mash-up of two legendary sports anthems, was featured on her highly-anticipated album, “Rockstar,” released in November 2023.
Inspired by her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, the album features collaborations with renowned artists such as Pink, Elton John, and her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, among others.
Dolly Parton’s music video celebrating our Olympic champions will not only tug at your heartstrings but will also ignite your passion for sports, music, and everything in between.
With Dolly’s timeless voice and the awe-inspiring feats of these legendary athletes, this video is destined to be a true spectacle that will leave you cheering for more.
