Massive 9-Foot Snake Found In Home
In Currimundi, Australia, a family arrives home and opens their bedroom door to see a 9-foot carpet python in their closet curled up and hissing at them.
In a panic, they quickly closed the door to trap it in the room and called their local snake catcher, Stuart McKenzie to come handle the situation.
“[They] realized it was a massive snake so they locked the bedroom door and called me,” Stuart McKenzie, of Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 said.
Snake Catcher Arrives To Capture It
He arrived at the scene pretty fast and even though the family said the snake was big over the phone he still wasn’t expecting it to be so large. However, Stuart’s used to handling snakes so he walks into the room with the camera rolling and opens the closet door.
As he slides the door open you can hear Stuart say “it is a massive carpet python, wow. Just going to try and get him out” right as the snake attempts to strike him. Stuart jumps back for a second and the snake tries to fight him again but the handler ends up using his stick to pick up the python and safely pulls it out of the closet.
“This was one of the biggest snakes I have caught inside,” McKenzie said.
Stuart holds the snake up and takes a picture just to show how big it really is and then safely puts it into a bag. Looking at the massive python everyone is confused about how a snake this size got into the house in the first place.
The snake catcher takes it out of the house and drives it far away from the home to release it back into the wild. He later writes on Facebook, “Its great to see big 9 foot+ Pythons still getting around in the neighborhoods of the Sunshine Coast.”
In the end, it’s a good day for Stuart because this is officially a new record for the biggest snake he’s ever caught inside. The family is happy too because they can finally sleep peacefully knowing it was removed.
