It seems like these days it’s not a country music award show without a pop-country crossover performance. Just as the dust began to settle following the controversial performance at the 2016 CMA Awards by the Dixie Chicks and Beyoncé, country music duo Florida Georgia Line invited ’90s boyband, the Backstreet Boys, to join them on stage at the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards for a performance of their latest single, “God, Your Mama, And Me.”

While it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise the Backstreet Boys would be asked to perform with FGL considering they are featured on the catchy track, many country music fans were enraged over the announcement.

In addition to their performance at the ACM Awards, the Backstreet Boys will be joining FGL on select dates of their Smooth Tour alongside fellow openers Nelly and Chris Lane. The tour will kick off later this year.

Co-hosts Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan will also be taking the stage at the award show with additional superstar performances by country music artists such as Miranda Lambert and many more. The ACM Awards takes place in Las Vegas on April 2, airing on CBS at 8PM ET.
