Flying Car Makes First Flight Between 2 Airports

Guess what? It is finally here!

The flying car has just made its first flight from one city to another in just 35 minutes and everything was a success. The AirCar, created by the company Klein Vision, says that it was also the 142nd successful landing the car has made in total.

“It opens a new category of transportation and returns the freedom originally attributed to cars back to the individual,” Klein told BBC. “AirCar is no longer just a proof of concept; flying at 8,200ft at a speed of 115 miles per hour, it has turned science fiction into a reality.”

The AirCar has already clocked more than 40 hours in the air and Klein Vision says once it’s in the air it can travel up to 600 miles. A video shows that with the press of a button, the AirCar can transform from a plane to a street-legal car in just two minutes and 15 seconds.

After landing, Professor Klein drove it straight off the runway and into the city where invited reporters were watching and waiting. He described it as feeling “normal” and “very pleasant.”

The car can carry up to two people weighing a combined weight of 430 pounds and cost around 2 million dollars to make. Klein Vision believes the car is a major breakthrough and predicts the market for flying cars to be $1.5trillion by the year 2040.

“There are about 40,000 orders of aircraft in the United States alone,” Anton Zajac, an adviser and investor in Klein Vision, said. “And if we convert 5% of those, to change the aircraft for the flying car – we have a huge market.”

The goal now for the team is to keep testing it until its had millions of hours worth of flight time and can eventually be safe to fly and safe to sell. Learn more about this incredible invention below.
