The ACM Awards commemorated their 59th year with a star-studded celebration in Frisco, Texas
The best and brightest in country music gathered tonight (May 16) for the 2024 ACM Awards. The annual show, hosted by 16-time ACM Award winner Reba McEntire, was packed full of memorable performances and exciting wins.
Five talented country music duos were in the running to be named Duo of the Year
Brooks & Dunn is one of the country music’s most iconic duos. With a musical career spanning more than three decades, they have charted an impressive 20 No. 1 hits. The pair previously won the award seven times between 1991 and 2009.
Brothers Osborne is the reigning ACM Duo of the Year, having won the honor the past two years, as well as in 2016 and 2017. The two brothers are also the proud owners of a Grammy Award, won in 2022 for Best Country Group/Duo performance.
Dan + Shay are also no strangers to Duo of the Year, having taken home the title for three consecutive years from 2018-2020. They have proven to be talented in multiple areas of entertainment, having just coached a season of NBC’s hit singing competition, The Voice.
Maddie & Tae burst onto the scene in 2014 with their debut single, “Girl In A Country Song,” which made a powerful statement about the portrayal of women in country music. Since then, the duo has continuously composed music highlighting their poignant songwriting and beautiful harmonies.
The War and Treaty received their first ACM nomination last year when they became the first black artists to be nominated for Duo of the Year. While the husband and wife pair may be newer on the scene, they have already collaborated with major names, including Zach Bryan and Emmylou Harris.
The ACM Award for Duo of the Year goes to… Dan + Shay!
Football star Richard Sherman and sportscaster Charissa Thompson presented the award during the high-energy ceremony. Dan + Shay are now seven-time ACM Award winners!
The pair took the stage and reflected upon their journey as musicians over the last ten years. They shared that “the one thing that has remained the same is the love and support of this country music community.”
