John Rich Joins Nashville Crowd To Honor Veteran At Funeral

On Wednesday, January 8th, at 11 AM, hundreds of strangers gathered together in Nashville, Tennessee, to honor the life of a late veteran, including country artist John Rich.

A Navy veteran named Donald Harlow passed away on December 27th at the age of 88. He was survived by a few family members and no living friends. His family included his brother and three nieces and nephews.

Harlow was a Navy veteran who served with the Sixth Fleet. According to his obituary, he was a “proud veteran.”

When one of his family members realized that only their grandfather and mother would be able to attend the funeral, they took to Facebook and posted in a local Nashville community group.

“My grandfather and mom are the only ones who are going to the funeral since unfortunately he was very old and the last of his friends. It breaks my heart to hear how upset my grandfather is knowing no one will be there. Is there anyone in the Nashville, TN area who would possibly be interested in going to his quick funeral at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. It would mean the world if even one person showed up for him.”

John Rich Attends The Funeral

The post was picked up by Rich, who, if you follow his social media, is well-known for supporting Veterans.

Rich reposted the Facebook post and asked his community to support the late Veteran.

Not only did he ask for the support of the community and local news stations, but he also showed up himself, and to everyone’s great surprise, so did hundreds of others in the Nashville community. Rich estimated that close to 1,000 people showed up for Harlow.

Rich shared a video of the event and said:

“Thanks to all the Patriots who came out to honor US Navy Veteran, Mr Donald Harlow, at his funeral today. We thank him for his service, and our thoughts are with his family. No Veteran should ever be buried alone.”
