Emotions ran high on Ty, Kelly & Chuck when Garth Brooks made a special appearance on the morning radio show.
As part of the radio shows campaign “100K Thank You’s,” Brooks read an emotional letter to military men and women written by a woman named Lindsay.
“I’m already starting to cry, sorry,” said Brooks as he wiped away tears from his eyes. “It says, ‘Thank you for your service’ and when you open it up it has a lot of Fourth of July lookin’ stars and stuff,” said Brooks while showing off the beautifully decorated card before reading the emotional message. “This is from Lindsay, ‘Thank you for devoting your life to fighting for our freedom. I can’t thank you enough for your service. Please know how much you are appreciated.”
Radio host Ty Bentli went on to share that Lindsay’s letter was one of “probably at least 200,000 cards” sent into the show. The country music superstar expressed that Lindsay’s message perfectly expressed the feeling all parents feel towards those fighting to keep their children safe.
“Amen,” said Brooks after reading the heartfelt letter. “Lindsay, you are dead on. I don’t know if Lindsay has children, but this is every parent’s card to the men and women who secure our children’s dreams. I can’t think of anybody who deserves it more than our military men and women, past, present and future.”
The hosts of the radio show invited listeners to write in thank you letters to the brave men and women of the United States military to be sent overseas, Brooks given the immense honor of reading the 100,000th letter sent in.
