After growing up with a major country star as a father, it seemed inevitable that one of Garth Brooks‘ daughters would follow in his musical footsteps. As it turns out, Garth’s youngest daughter Allie fell in love with country music just like her father, and now she’s pursuing her own career in the industry.
Over the years, Allie has wowed thousands with her impressive covers of country classics and hits. She pays tribute to some of her biggest idols, singing songs by everyone from Elvis to Keith Whitley. Those who watch her videos are impressed with the beauty of her voice and how much passion she pours into each performance.
Working hard to introduce others to her voice and her music, Allie stopped by to play a show at the Scoreboard Bar in Nashville on Saturday night (April 29). Wanting to share her performance with her followers on Facebook, Allie posted a live video of her singing what is arguably one of the most emotional songs in country music history…”Travelin’ Soldier” by the Dixie Chicks.
Written by Bruce Robison, “Travelin’ Soldier” tells the story of a young girl who meets a soldier that goes off to the Vietnam War. The two exchange letters while he’s away, but eventually the letters stop coming. That’s when the girl finds out that the soldier has been killed, and she is the only one who seems to care.
The song’s heavy emotions make it a challenging one to sing, but Allie was up for it. She opted to perform an all-acoustic cover of the song, playing along on her own guitar while a single guitarist joined her by her side. This unplugged arrangement offered a greater sense of vulnerability to the performance and gave Allie’s sweet voice the chance to shine.
You’ll be moved to tears as you hear how beautifully Allie portrays the story of the “Travelin’ Soldier” and the young girl he left behind. We think she ended up delivering a performance to be proud of.
Tune in below to watch the video of Allie singing “Travelin’ Soldier.” Her talent in undeniable, so we have no doubt that she’ll be able to excel in the music industry!
