In 2007, Julianne Hough made a name for herself in the entertainment industry when she became a professional dancer on Dancing With The Stars, winning her very first two seasons. Shortly after, she announced that she would be releasing a self-titled country music album in May 2008.
She released two singles from the album, “That Song In My Head” and “Hallelujah Song”, which went on to reach No. 18 and No. 44 on the charts, respectively. Because of the success of her singles and her No. 1 album, she was nominated, and won, the ACM Award for Top New Female Vocalist.
In 2010, she released “Is That So Wrong”, the first single from her second album, Wildfire, which was never released due to her film commitments. Now, almost seven years later, she is finally spilling the beans on when she will return to singing.
Since her last album, she returned to Dancing With The Stars as a pro and then a judge, starred in several movies, and went on tour with her brother Derek.
Sitting down with TODAY Show’s Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, the ladies gabbed about her upcoming wedding to hockey player Brooks Laich, while they snuck in a question about her singing career!
“What about your singing career?” Kotb asked her. “I’ve got your songs on my iPhone that I love. So, when is some more of that happening?”
“That’s actually one of my goals this year is to start writing again. I took time out from my music career when I was doing my film and television and Dancing With The Stars and the tour, but on the show, this tour we’re doing, Derek and I both sing, and dance, and it’s so much fun,” she said.
Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later that we will get to hear some new music from the blonde beauty! Watch her full TODAY Show interview below.
