Meet Rob Cole, The Talented Singer Who Auditioned For The Voice With A Chris Stapleton Cover
When Voice coach Michael Bublé heard Rob Cole sing, he knew he couldn’t give Reba McEntire a chance to claim him for her team. So he used his one and only block to keep that from happening.
34-year-old Rob Cole is from North Carolina. He may look familiar to longtime fans of The Voice, and that’s because he previously auditioned for the show. He first appeared on the Voice stage for Season 25 in 2024, when he sang Billy Currington’s “Must Be Doin’ Something Right.”

Unfortunately, Rob didn’t get any of the coaches to turn their chairs for him during the blind auditions for Season 25. But he still received a lot of positive feedback from the coaches, who told him he had an incredible voice.
Rob’s Voice journey didn’t end there. One year later, he returned to audition for Season 28. Seizing his second chance, Rob opted to cover Chris Stapleton‘s “Joy of My Life” in the hopes of finally getting at least one chair to turn.
His dedication and effort paid off. It didn’t take long before Michael Bublé flipped his chair around for him. In fact, he loved Rob’s performance so much that he used his “block” to ensure the Voice‘s country queen, Reba McEntire, wouldn’t stand a chance.
Reba Was Shocked When She Noticed That Michael Blocked Her
Michael’s block was well-played. Reba turned her chair around shortly after him. It took her a few seconds before she noticed she’d been blocked, but once she did, her jaw literally dropped.
Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan didn’t turn their chairs. Since Reba was blocked, that meant that Rob was automatically welcomed onto Team Bublé!
Michael was ecstatic and had some good-natured fun rubbing it in Reba’s face that he blocked her. “I love you so much Reba…I love you so much that I blocked you,” he said.
Speaking directly to Rob, he added, “When I heard your voice, I knew I could not allow Reba to be in the competition with me.”
While she was understandably upset she’d been blocked, Reba was just happy to see Rob. After he introduced himself, she realized he had auditioned for the show before.
Reba was a coach during Season 25 when Rob first auditioned. She was pleased to see that he had returned and finally earned a spot on the show, even if he wasn’t on her team. “Man I am so glad you are in now,” she said.
Rob spoke about his drive to keep trying even after being rejected in the past, saying, “No does not mean never,” which the coaches wholeheartedly agreed with.
