Gavin Adcock To Release His Own Rendition Of Classic Country Favorites
Waylon Jennings’ legacy endures through the songs he wrote and recorded. Over the years, many artists have put their own spin on his music, and rising country star Gavin Adcock is the latest to honor him with a cover.
Adcock initially pursued college football at Georgia Southern University before a knee injury in 2021 helped shift his focus to music. He then signed with Warner Music Nashville, and his 2024 debut album Actin’ Up Again became one of the most streamed country debuts by a solo male artist. In 2025, he released the album Own Worst Enemy.
The Georgia native has teamed up with several fellow rising country artists for his upcoming album of classic country favorites, Country Never Dies, which is set to release on March 13. Adcock has covered timeless hits including Conway Twitty’s “Slow Hand,” and Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried,” among many others.
Gavin Adcock Covers “Only Daddy That’ll Walk The Line”
As part of that album, Adcock has also covered Jennings’ classic hit, “Only Daddy That’ll Walk The Line.” With his gritty voice and smooth vocals, Adcock pays homage to Jennings and delivers an iconic version of the song.
Jennings released the hit in 1968 on his Only the Greatest album. That same year, the song peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart for 5 weeks, and spent a total of 18 weeks on the chart.

Shooter Jennings Honors His Late Father
Marking what would have been Waylon Jennings’ 88th birthday on June 15, 2025, his son Waylon Albright Jennings, better known as Shooter, revealed that three never-before-heard records from the late legend would release in the fall.
Shooter enlisted the help of some notable musicians to put the finishing touches on the newly discovered recordings. Four of the original members of The Waylors, as well as musicians Ashley Monroe and Elizabeth Cook, lent their talents to the project.
The first of the three albums, titled Songbird, was released on October, 3rd, 2025.
