Although their marriage eventually ended in divorce, George Jones and Tammy Wynette are still regarded as one of country music’s ultimate power couples. The union resulted in a string of now-iconic duets, such as “Golden Ring,” which was actually released 14 months after the couple divorced.
George and Tammy’s marriage also resulted in another musical gift. That gift was their daughter Georgette, who was born in 1970. As an adult, Georgette has experienced her own success in country music. She also pays a beautiful tribute to her mother during her performances, especially when she sings “Stand by Your Man.”
But Georgette’s performances of her mother’s songs aren’t the only way that she honors her parents. In fact, she’s taken a big step to make sure that both her parents’ legacies live on for generations to come.
Georgette is currently in the process of working on a film about her father, in which Josh Brolin has been cast to play him. Known for No Country for Old Men and True Grit, Brolin announced his role in the film during an appearance on Conan in February. He also revealed that The Help star Jessica Chastain will be staring alongside him as Tammy.
There was initially some confusion surrounding the casting announcement, as some outlets falsely reported they would be staring in another biopic called No Show Jones. As it turns out, George’s widow and fourth wife, Nancy, is working on her own biopic about his life, and that is the title. However, Georgette cleared up the confusion surrounding the casting, saying that no actors have been announced for Nancy’s film yet.

As of right now, Nancy has still not announced the casting for her biopic. But Georgette can’t stop talking about the actors playing her parents in her own movie. In a post she shared on Thursday (November 18), she revealed the filming is fast approaching, and she had nothing but lovely things to say about Josh and Jessica. Sharing a screenshot of a post that Josh wrote about the film on Instagram, Georgette said, “I’m so excited he’s doing this project. He and Jessica Chastain will do an amazing job and I can’t wait!!!”
