In 2015, Gwen Stefani filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. Around the same time, fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton was also going through a divorce from ex-wife Miranda Lambert.

They were both going through public divorces at the same time and confided in each other. Eventually, they began a relationship and fell in love. In October 2020, the two got engaged at their ranch in Oklahoma.

In early 2019, news broke that Stefani was seeking an annulment from Rossdale. Seeing as they were married for 13 years and have three children together, many fans were wondering how this would even be possible.

But it turns out, she wasn’t trying to legally annul her marriage, she was seeking an annulment of the marriage from the Catholic church. If you are married in the Catholic church and then divorce, you cannot remarry in a Catholic church or by a Catholic priest if you do not annul the previous marriage.

According to many different outlets, including Us Weekly, Stefani was “finally granted” an annulment by the Catholic church, which means they can now get married by Stefani’s priest.  Both singers have admitted that they aren’t going to get married soon, due to the coronavirus pandemic and want to be able to celebrate with everyone they love.
