Scotty McCreery Releases Summer Tunes Featuring Friends

“A little drunk in Mexico, lookin’ out on the Gulf of America,” sings Scotty McCreery in the chorus of his new song, “Swim Up Bar,” which is one of five songs on his EP, Scooter & Friends.

Released on Friday, July 18, this EP finds Scotty reminiscing on summers of the past, as in the summer anthem “Bottle Rockets,” featuring Hootie & the Blowfish. However, with a lyrical reference to the Gulf of America, which was formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico, this EP is also positioned firmly in the summer of 2025.

He’s also just having a good time, as evidenced by the unexpected song “Once Upon A Bottle Of Wine,” featuring R&B icon Charlie Wilson.

Singing three songs with friends, and offering up two new solo tracks as well, Scooter & Friends is ready for whatever summer may bring.

In a press release, Scotty said of the EP, “Back home everyone calls me ‘Scooter,’ so since I’m singing with a few of my favorite artists, I decided to call this project Scooter & Friends. It’s a fun collection of songs that are a little different from what I normally sing, yet they are still me. If the fans like it, maybe there will be a second volume in a few years.”

Hear Scotty’s Collaborations With Three Friends

In anticipation of Scooter & Friends, Scotty had released two of the EP’s songs early, allowing fans to enjoy hearing him sing with Hootie & the Blowfish on the nostalgic summer anthem “Bottle Rockets,” as well as hear his R&B-infused “Once Upon A Bottle Of Wine,” featuring Charlie Wilson.

Now, a song with another of his friends, Lee Brice, can be heard.

Titled “Whiskey Said,” Scotty and Lee, who have performed together on several occasions, are thankful it “ain’t no crime” to have a “damn good time.”

Beyond its summer night vibes, it’s a song that can help anyone get to Friday.

Together, Scotty and Lee sing:

“Mixin’, sippin’, slammin’, shootin’, Friday nightin’, 90-proofin’, yeah we just out here doin’ what the whiskey said.”

Two New Solo Songs

In addition to his songs with friends, Scotty’s new EP also has two new solo songs.

With the previously mentioned “Swim Up Bar,” Scotty sings of a scenic escape, and he even sings in Spanish.

Light mariachi vibes, with the picked acoustic guitar and the entry of a trumpet section, make this a memorable track with high replay value.

Closing out the EP is “Holding Down The Honky Tonk,” which matches the energy of the preceding track, “Whiskey Said.”
