Darius Rucker Only Sang Four Songs Before Calling Off His July 12th Concert
Darius Rucker has confirmed the fate of his tour after suddenly calling off a recent concert in the middle of his performance.
The Grand Ole Opry member performed in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Saturday, July 12th. He only made it through three songs before he turned to the audience and confessed he wouldn’t be able to finish the show.
Those in attendance could tell Rucker’s voice was cutting out as he sang “Life’s Too Short,” “It Won’t Be Like This For Long,” and “For the First Time.” This prompted Rucker to proclaim, “I can’t sing anymore.”
He apologized to the audience, saying:
“I’ve really never done this before. I just can’t sing anymore. I can’t sing…Y’all, I can’t sing anymore. I will play one more song. I promise you we’re gonna figure this out. We’re gonna get your money back, we’re gonna figure this out. I just can’t sing. I’ve never done this before. This is the first time in the 40-year history of my career that I can’t sing.“
As promised, Rucker performed a fourth and final song. He sang his famous rendition of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” before ending the concert.

Rucker hoped he’d be able to reschedule the Atlantic City concert for later in his tour. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find a new date that would work this year.
He shared an update on his Instagram Story after the show, writing:
“Atlantic City. Thank you so much for coming out Saturday night. I feel awful and I’m so sorry — I have never lost my voice in all my years of performing. We looked at every option to reschedule, but unfortunately, it’s just not possible this year, so we’re issuing full refunds.”

What’s The Status Of Darius Rucker’s Tour?
Other artists, such as Luke Bryan and Kelly Clarkson, have recently canceled multiple shows due to vocal issues. So Rucker’s fans were understandably concerned about his upcoming tour dates.
Rucker’s publicist, Ebie McFarland, confirmed the fate of his tour in a statement to USA Today on Wednesday (July 16th). McFarland said:
“There is no further interruption in his touring schedule. Following vocal rest, Darius has been cleared to resume shows.”
According to the list of tour dates on Rucker’s website, his next concert is scheduled for Saturday (July 19th) in Hollywood, Florida.
The trek will take him across the U.S., Canada, and the UK throughout the year, concluding on December 13th in Naples, Florida. We’re wishing him the best and are glad to hear he’s feeling better now!
