The Scale Of HARDY’s “McArthur” Project Remains A Mystery
After a week of speculation and theories by country music fans, last Friday, Jan. 30, saw the release of a significant new song featuring four of the biggest names in country.
Released by HARDY, the song “McArthur” features Tim McGraw, Eric Church, and Morgan Wallen, with each of the four artists singing a verse in this country music ballad.
Leading up to the release of the song, HARDY and his collaborators each shared a set of cryptic posts, with each post bearing the surname “McArthur.” These posts all tied into the song, finding each of the artists singing on behalf of a McArthur patriarch through the generations.
However, the song “McArthur” may just be the start.

HARDY Promises More Is On The Way
The day after “McArthur” was released, HARDY shared a post to his Instagram, quoting part of the song’s big messages, “What ya gonna pass down?”
But the post didn’t stop there, as he discreetly revealed there was more on the way…
Responding to a comment on the post, which said “McArthur” was the “best song of 2026,” HARDY replied, “You haven’t heard anything yet.”

That there would be more to this project makes sense, as all of the character information that was shared in the week ahead of the release of the song “McArthur” was fairly intensive.
Here is a breakdown of each of the Jan. 26 posts shared by the artists:
- Tim McGraw posted the name John McArthur, born Nov. 2, 1920, who died on Nov. 22, 1963;
- Eric Church posted the name Junior McArthur, born Sept. 2, 1945, who died on April 4, 1967;
- HARDY posted the name Jones McArthur, born June 5, 1968, who died on Jan. 5, 2025; and
- Morgan Wallen posted on his Instagram story the name Hunter McArthur, who was born May 13, 1993.
Many of the dates listed here correspond to historical events.
McGraw’s character, John, died the same day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated; Church’s character, Junior, was born on the day Japan surrendered to the Allied Forces in World War II; and HARDY’s character, Jones, was born the same day that Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Further, Morgan Wallen’s character, Hunter, who is notably the only character who is still alive, shares birthdays with Wallen.
For now, we play the waiting game. Will it be a concept album? An EP? A long-form music video?
