The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) has announced that black bear sightings are soaring and they want people to be aware and stay safe.
A video recently posted to social media shows a house cat sitting at the backdoor in Asheville looking through the glass at a black bear walking up to investigate. The curious bear appeared to be a juvenile, probably born this year, and had probably never seen a cat before.
The bear made his way to the door to get a look in at the cat. The cat ready to attack!
It viciously clawed and scratched at the glass as the bear leaned. The feline definitely spooked the bear. It jumped back to escape the cat’s claw, maybe not realize it was behind glass doors.
The bear only stepped back for a second and tried to lean in one more time, however, the cat stood its ground and continued its ferocious attack at the glass, ultimately scaring the bear enough to run off the porch.
“Wildlife experts say most bears that wander into a neighborhood will quickly retreat to their habitat especially if no food is around. But they urge everyone to stay cautious,” ABC13 reported.
