Jamal Roberts Had A Stunning Night

Jamal Roberts was one of the five safe from elimination in last night’s episode of American Idol. He was saved alongside Slater Nalley, Breanna Nix, John Foster, and Thunderstorm Artis. However, the judges seemed clearly surprised by the results, mainly that Mattie Pruitt and Gabby Samone were eliminated.

Jamal’s Mother’s Day Tribute

On the same night, all seven contestants sang their hearts out in celebration of Mother’s Day. The performance featured two parts: one set of songs celebrated Mother’s Day, filled with emotion and beautiful tributes, while the other set showcased classic Disney songs. The overall theme of the night was “Disney Classics.”

Jamal wowed the crowd with his Mother’s Day song tribute.

He sang “A Change Is Gonna Come,” which Sam Cooke originally released on December 22, 1964. The song’s lyrics tell the story of a wish for change and a message of hope.

“It’s been a longA long time coming, but I knowA change gon’ comeOh yes, it will.”

After his performance, the judges gave the singer a standing ovation.

Jamal Roberts Sings A Hercules Hit

The singer picked a song from the 1997 classic Hercules for his Disney performance.

Jamal sang “Go the Distance,” originally sung in the Disney hit, when Hercules leaves his family home and begins his great adventure. The song tells the story of wonder and reaching for your dreams. It is a hopeful tune filled with curiosity and hope for a better future, a clear theme in Jamal’s Mother’s Day performances.

The singer stood center stage with depictions of Greek mythology projected behind him and bright white light shimmering around him.
