Mayor Brant Walker from Alton, Illinois released a public statement on Monday, April 6th, 2020 confessing that he had the police department issue his own wife a citation for breaking the “Stay At Home” order after the cops found her at a bar around 1am Sunday morning.

What’s ironic about this is previously on Saturday he issued a different public statement begging people to stay home. Even before that on Friday he publicly directed the Alton Police Department to be more strict when enforcing the governor’s statewide “Stay At Home” order by giving citations to those who wouldn’t follow the rules.
The mayor directed the police to do this because the county was increasing in COVID-19 cases and consistently receiving more reports of large gatherings. On Saturday night police were going through the city and shutting down the rule breakers but the real shocker happened when they got to Hiram’s Tavern and found Shannon Walker, the mayor’s wife, drinking with the rest of the partiers.
The officers contacted the mayor the moment they found her and asked him what they should do about the situation. The mayor told everyone in a public statement that he posted on Facebook, “I instructed the Police Chief to treat her as he would any citizen violating the “Stay At Home” order and to ensure that she received no special treatment.”

She and other folks at the bar were issued citations and ordered to go home. As for the bar owner, he was arrested on the spot for an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery with bodily harm that was related to an incident in February.
Mayor Brant Walker continued to confess that he was embarrassed by this wife’s actions and that they have officially separated. He says his first and most important priority is the safety and well-being of the citizens of Alton and he will do everything to ensure that the people’s health is protected.
