If you haven’t heard of the Netflix series Tiger King by now, then you’ve been hiding under a rock. With the whole world stuck in quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series’ mid-March debut was perfectly timed.
Millions of people have binge-watched the series about Oklahoma zoo owner Joe Exotic and his rivalry with Carole Baskin, who runs an animal sanctuary in Florida. In 2019, Joe was convicted on two counts of murder for hire after approaching a hitman to kill Carole.
He is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence.
Even though Joe is behind bars, he is arguably the most famous person in the world right now.
Years ago, one country music star got the chance to meet Joe at an event, and now she’s sharing the photo proof.
On Sunday (April 12), Tiger King dropped a bonus episode of the series. The new episode caught up with some of the key subjects in the series, and shared how they’re doing now that the show is a worldwide sensation.
Hot on the heels of the bonus episode’s release, Miranda Lambert fed in to the Tiger King hype when she revealed she met Joe at a past event…and she has photo proof!
Miranda posted three photos that show her with Joe and some employees from his zoo, including his ex John Finlay. It appears Miranda was representing her charity, the MuttNation Foundation, at this event, since she was wearing a MuttNation t-shirt and you can see the MuttNation van in one of the photos.
It’s unclear where the event took place, but we assume it was in Oklahoma. That’s where Joe’s zoo was located, and there is also a bus in the background of one photo that says it’s from the Humane Society of Tulsa.
Miranda found it hilarious she had taken photos with the “Tiger King” years ago. “Here’s a little Monday memory for y’all,” she captioned the post along with some cry-laughing emojis.

Miranda also referenced Joe’s current status as a prisoner by including the hashtag “#WayTooPrettyForPrison.” She actually has a song with this title, and it was released on her newest record, Wildcard. It’s a duet with Maren Morris, and you can give it a listen below.
We can’t believe Miranda once met the “Tiger King,” can y’all?
