The CMT Music Awards were a big night for rising star Jelly Roll. In addition to being a leader in nominations for the night, he also had the honor of closing the show.
However, an unexpected flight challenge almost prevented him from attending the event. While aboard a private jet en route to Austin, Jelly Roll and his crew were forced to make an emergency landing due to a “malfunction,” adding an unforeseen hindrance to their travel plans.
Bunnie Xo, wife of the country star, shared about the experience online saying, “CMT i swear we’re coming,” accompanied by a crying emoji.
Fortunately, they were able to resolve the issue with the aircraft and made it in time for the CMT Music Awards red carpet!

Jelly Roll’s 2023 CMT Music Awards performance helped catapult his career
Last year, Jelly Roll took the CMT Music Awards stage to perform his smash hit “Need A Favor.” John Hamlin, executive producer for the annual awards show reflected:
“Last year, it was his coming-out party. And when he walked out on the stage for rehearsal yesterday, he looked at all of us producers sitting here at the table and said, ‘Hey, guys. It’s our one-year anniversary!’ He talks about it all the time, how … he has had just an enormous year, but it all started here last year.”
This year, he took home the award for Performance of the Year for that very appearance.
