Grease fans, assemble!
In an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Olivia Newton-John stopped by to sing with Fallon’s house band, The Roots. As Fallon was closing out the show, Newton-John and The Roots were singing the iconic song from Grease, “You’re The One That I Want.”
As most of you know, Newton-John starred as the lead in the 1978 film Grease, which is based on the 1971 stage musical. Even though Newton-John went on to be a pop star and was a pretty successful singer before Grease, people almost always associate her with that role. She doesn’t mind, though! She even incorporates a lot of the music into her shows!

While Fallon was giving Newton-John a hug, he began harmonizing with her and they spontaneously began singing the song from the top.
Newton-John began pushing Fallon away, like she does in the movie, during the lyric, “You better shape up, ’cause I need a man/ And my heart is set on you“. His face is priceless during this moment!
During the chorus, Newton-John even taught him how to do the 4-step walk that Danny and Sandy do while holding their belt buckles.
Fallon is a huge John Travolta fan, and when he stopped by The Tonight Show in June 2018, they did the iconic”Four Corners” dance move together to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary.
What a treat! And the fact that this was completely spontaneous makes it even better.
After Newton-John’s passing on August 8, 2022, The Tonight Show reposted the clip on their official Instagram page.
