John Travolta Surprises Fans At “Grease” Event At The Hollywood Bowl
Actor John Travolta gave “Grease” fans the ultimate surprise when he dressed up as Danny Zuko for a sing-along event at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles this week.
The 71-year-old shared a post to his Instagram of the ordeal, showing him wearing Zuko’s famous leather jacket and slicked back hairdo.
The crowd went wild when Travolta came onstage, even surprising his original “Grease” co-stars Kelly Ward, Michael Tucci, Didi Conn, Barry Pearl, and director Randal Kleiser.
“L.A.! I thought you were going back to Australia?” Travolta said, speaking like Zuko in the movie.
“That’s cool, that’s cool, baby. You know, rocking and rolling and whatnot,” he added.
The actor and his co-stars then sang their infamous line from the movie, “A-womp-bop-a-looma/A-womp-bam-boom,” and told the crowd to enjoy the show.
Travolta Remembers “Grease” Throughout The Years
In June 2023, on the 45th anniversary of โGrease,โ Travolta shared a vintage video that featured his late and beloved co-star, Olivia Newton-John.
Accompanying the heartwarmingย video,ย Travolta shared his own reflections, stating,ย โOn this day, 45 years ago, (June 16, 1978) was the movie premiere of โGreaseโ at The Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. It was a great day.โย And indeed, it was a day that has been etched into the memories of countless fans around the world.
“Grease” tells the story of teenage love and is celebrated around the world for its famous songs as one of the most beloved musicals of all time.
Travolta and Newton-John reunited in 2018 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie, and just four years later she passed away at the age of 73.
He paid tribute to her on his own social media, sharing the memories she imprinted on his heart forever.
“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible,” Travolta wrote at the time. “I love you so much. We will see you down the road, and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!”
