Just a few days after Tyra Banks unexpectedly revealed she would be leaving her hosting duties on Dancing With The Stars, the show has already named her replacement – Julianne Hough!
The show revealed the news on social media saying, “We are so excited to welcome Julianne Hough as co-host of #DWTS Season 32 along with Alfonso Ribeiro!”
The announcement comes just three days after Banks, who hosted the show for three seasons, told a TMZ reporter that she wants to focus on her entrepreneurial ventures.
“I feel it’s really time for me to focus on my business and my entrepreneurship, and also producing more TV — but behind the scenes. I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor. … from the ballroom to the boardroom!” she said. “Don’t you think it’s time? Yeah, I think it’s time. I’m an entrepreneur at heart. … I think my heart, my soul, is into my business, it’s also into producing new TV. … But, I really, really want to focus on my business, and you can’t do that hosting a show.”
Fans were left wondering on Friday (March 17) as to who would be replacing her, and we didn’t have to wait very long. Hough is no stranger to the ballroom, having competed in five seasons, winning two, and was a judge on the show from 2014-2017.
Her brother, Derek Hough, now serves as a judge and she will be reuniting with him in the ballroom as a co-host of the show! She addressed the news on her Instagram with her first official statement!
“It is such an honor to be rejoining ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as co-host. The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of,” the star said.
She continued, “The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years. I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann, Bruno, Derek, the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor. The energy is magnetic every time you step foot in to the ballroom and I can’t wait to feel it again — and of course to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans — for another exciting season.”
Hough’s new co-host, Season 19 champion Alfonso Ribeiro, said, “So excited…will be great to share the stage with you.”
