Kacey Musgraves Reveals That She Is Recovering From A Broken Rib After Taking A Hard Fall

Kacey Musgraves is taking a break from performing after breaking a rib during a recent trip to Mexico.

The “Golden Hour” singer shared the unfortunate news through a post on her Instagram Story. She included an X-ray image of her rib, along with a detailed message explaining what she’s currently going through.

“Sooo, I’m in Mexico with a f****** broken rib,” she began.

She explained that the injury happened while she was running to grab towels after it started raining. Because the ground was wet, Musgraves said she slipped on the tile floor and took what she described as an “extremely hard fall.”

“Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very hard on my back left ribcage and broke rib number six,” she wrote.

“I’m in a lot of pain and doing anything is extremely difficult but I’m managing,” she added.

Because the pain was so intense, Musgraves knew she wouldn’t be able to get on a plane.

As a result of her broken rib, she had to cancel her scheduled appearance at the Sing for Science show in Nashville, which was set for Sunday, June 22.

The 36-year-old told her followers that she was “extremely bummed” that she had to miss the event. However, she said that the situation left her with “literally no other option.”

Musgraves’ Sing for Science appearance was originally set to be a live taping at the Ryman Auditorium, where she would talk with mycologist Paul Stamets.

Thankfully for fans who had already purchased tickets, Musgraves confirmed that the event would be rescheduled for September 18.

Those unable to attend the new date have up to 30 days to request a refund.

The official Sing for Science Instagram page also shared the update, sending well wishes to Musgraves as she heals.

“Heal up Kacey, and then get back to Nashville so we can all bask in the wonder of mushrooms,” they wrote in the caption.

Kacey Musgraves’ next show is scheduled for July 5, which thankfully gives her some time to rest before returning to the stage.

For now, there’s no indication the date will be changed, and hopefully, she is well enough to perform by then.
