Kelly Clarkson Performs Country Songs On Her Talk Show – Honors Keith Urban With Multiple Covers
Kelly Clarkson loves covering country songs for the “Kellyoke” segment of her namesake talk show. Sometimes she sings timeless tunes from the past, while other times she performs more modern hits.
In March 2022, Clarkson showed Keith Urban some appreciation by covering his emotional song “Tonight I Wanna Cry.”
Just two months after that performance, Clarkson opted to cover yet another one of Urban’s hits, “Raining on Sunday.”
Urban released “Raining on Sunday” in 2003 as the second single off of his 2002 album Golden Road.

His rendition of “Raining on Sunday” is actually a cover itself, since it was originally recorded by Radney Foster. Foster co-wrote the song with Darrell Brown. His version also features Darius Rucker on backing vocals.
But it was Urban who transformed “Raining on Sunday” into a popular hit. His version reached the third spot on the Hot Country Songs chart and crossed over to claim the 38th slot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
The song also landed at the 13th spot on the year-end Country Songs chart for 2003.
