Singer, songwriter, and television personality Kelly Clarkson returned to host NBC’s annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center for the second consecutive year.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree tradition dates back to 1931. To celebrate the season, a group of workers pooled their money to buy a Christmas tree and decorated it with their families. It has grown in grandeur in the nearly 100 years since, and has become one of the nation’s most cherished holiday traditions.

The 2024 tree lighting ceremony featured an all-star lineup of singers, including Jennifer Hudson, Little Big Town, The Backstreet Boys, Dan + Shay, and more. The event hosted a live audience in person in New York City and was streamed on NBC for all of the nation to enjoy.

Kelly Clarkson has a wide variety of holiday music in her repertoire, having released two Christmas albums, Wrapped in Red and When Christmas Comes Around. Both albums contained a mix of new Christmas tunes and classic seasonal favorites.

In September, she released a new original Christmas song, “You For Christmas.” Clarkson co-wrote the song with first-time collaborators Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson. It was included on the deluxe reissue of her album When Christmas Comes AroundAgain.

She performed the festive song live for the first time during the Rockefeller Center celebration. The Grammy award winner brought the energy and showed off her impressive vocal range throughout the song.
