The 22-Year-Old Dedicated The Song About Working Hard To His Parents

On Monday, March 9, the Top 30 of Season 24 of American Idol may have been at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, in Hawaii, but that didn’t mean that every performance matched the tropical setting.

Performing in the new Ohana Round, the contestants were singing for their place in the Top 20, and 22-year-old Kutter Bradley rose to the occasion.

Donning a pair of overalls and a ball cap, Kutter began by introducing the song he was performing, Jason Aldean’s “Amarillo Sky,” stating, “The reason I picked that song is because it’s a song about hard work. Dedicating it to my parents, right here, because they showed me what hard work is and it rubbed off on me ’cause I’m hard working for my dreams right now.”

Originally released in 2005 on Jason Aldean’s eponymous debut album, “Amarillo Sky” is a powerful song about everyday efforts — living and working by the sweat of one’s brow.

Coming from a background as a welder and machinist, this song selection was fitting for Kutter Bradley.

While he noted that he’s worked in carpentry, construction, and welding, there was something about music that has been valuable to him.

“Ever since I did music, something is just poking at me like I’ve got to see how far I can take it,” Kutter said as he prefaced his performance on Idol‘s ‘Ohana Round.

Starting his performance with his guitar in hand, he sang with confidence and strength. By the end of the song, he imbued his performance with passion as he slung the guitar behind him and focused on the lyrics. Moving across the round stage, he made a meaningful connection with the audience, as well.

His parents proudly watched on, frequently wiping away tears throughout his performance.

Ultimately, what Kutter brought to “Amarillo Sky” was strong enough to get him into the Top 20.

Celebrating this accomplishment, Kutter posted on social media, “God is good!!”

This is not the first time that Kutter Bradley has performed a Jason Aldean song.

Four years ago, Kutter shared a video on YouTube of him performing Aldean’s “My Kinda Party,” which can be seen, here:
