Lainey Wilson & Her Fiancé Duck Hodges’ Sweet Love Story
Country superstar Lainey Wilson and her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, have been together since 2021 but kept their romance private for quite some time before sharing that they were together. Hodges has built a successful real estate career since retiring from the NFL in 2022.
It wasn’t until 2023 that they made their public debut by walking the red carpet together at the ACM Awards. In a July 2025 interview with People, Wilson shared the number one thing she and Hodges prioritize to keep their relationship happy and healthy.
The most important part of making it work, according to the “Somewhere Over Laredo” singer, is simply setting aside quality time for one another.
“You have to definitely carve out the time,” Wilson said. “It has to be something that you’re very aware of, and you’re like, ‘Okay, I’ve got a day off here in 10 days. I’ve got to dedicate that day to spend time with my person.”
Despite her incredibly demanding schedule, Wilson says Hodges is her “biggest cheerleader,” and always there to support her.
“We don’t get to see each other all the time, and I do live a lot of my life on the road, so we’re also kind of figuring it out as we go, which is fun.” she said.
The Happy Couple Gets Engaged
In February 2025, Wilson and Hodges announced that they were engaged with a sweet set of photos from the special moment. The former NFL player proposed on the front porch of George Jones ‘ former Tennessee estate.
Even after an entire year of being engaged, the couple has stayed pretty quiet about wedding details, leaving fans wondering when they’ll finally say “I do.”
One big reason is timing. The country singer has opened up before about how tough it’s been to plan their wedding. It hasn’t been easy trying to lock in a date that works with both her and Hodges’ busy schedules.
Wilson did hint at when the wedding might happen while hosting the CMA Awards back in November, though. During her acceptance speech for Entertainer of the Year, she briefly confirmed that they’ll tie the knot in 2026.
“I’mma be honest with y’all. I was just so tickled to be here hosting this thing tonight. I just came into here just wanting to celebrate country music, the love of my life and I know the love of so many of y’all’s lives,”she said during her speech.
Wilson Shares More About The Day Hodges Proposed
In a recent interview with People, the “4x4xU” singer shared a little bit more details about the day the couple got engaged.
Wilson admitted that the morning of the proposal, she knew something was off because Hodges was acting a little “funny.” She recalled that he asked her if she wanted to go do a “breathing exercise,” and immediately she wondered what was going on.
The singer said she eventually talked herself out of any big proposal happening because she didn’t want to get her hopes up and be mad if he didn’t ask her to marry him.
She continued, revealing that she was “completely shocked” when it did happen.
