Who’s Watching Tommy’s Family? Suspense Mounts In Landman Episode 7

There were no explosions during Taylor Sheridan’s Landman Episode 7. However, the audience got a whole lot of romance.

Landman follows the life of Tommy Norris, an oil man’s fixer. The series documents his family and work life. While past episodes have explored the intricacy of the man’s work life, from lawsuits to oil field explosions, this episode explored the characters’ family lives and did a deep dive into their love lives.

Angela’s Softer Side In Landman Episode 7

Since the show’s opening, Angela has had very little variance in her character. She is a party girl who leverages her looks to get what she wants. Her only redeeming quality is her love for her daughter, Ainsley, who is basically a mini Angela.

Angela loves her family but is estranged from her son Cooper. She is also rekindling her relationship with her ex-husband, Tommy.

This episode showcased her compassionate side. While driving past a retirement community, her daughter Ainsley expressed sadness for the residents, so they decided to stop and say hello.

During their visit, Angela noticed the dreary atmosphere and decided to bring some joy by throwing a small party. The residents were so thrilled that they asked her to come back the next day, and she agreed.

As they left, Ainsley joked that her mother had “Found her calling.”

Will Ainsley Get Kidnapped?

Ainsley made friends and was invited to a party in a field that the kids accurately named a “field party.”

There, she spotted the quarterback of her college and decided she wanted to date him. They met and quickly began making out. Suddenly, Tommy arrived and punched the quarterback, throwing him off his daughter. The two exchanged words, and Tommy threatened to kill him.

However, it seems like nothing will stop the two lovebirds. The quarterback might be here to stay.

The scene quickly shifted to show that someone was spying on them. This means that either someone was following Tommy and has now discovered that his daughter is his weakness, or they were already tracking the daughter.

It can be inferred that the drug cartel is monitoring the family, which does not bode well for Ainsley in the upcoming episode.

Is Cooper Okay?

The last time the audience saw Cooper, he was fighting for his life in a hospital bed. In Landman Episode 7, he is discharged.

His father, Tommy, invites him to stay with him, but Cooper chooses to go stay with his love interest, Ariana.

If you recall from previous episodes, Ariana was the wife of one of the men on Cooper’s former crew who died in a freak accident. She is also the reason that Cooper was attacked and ended up in the hospital.

The pair ended up sharing the one bed that Angela had at her house, and even though Cooper promised to be a“gentleman,” they did end up kissing.

The episode ended with a knock on Angela’s door, which turned out to be the oil company’s lawyers, Rebecca and Nathan. who were there to get Ariana to sign an agreement that she would never sue the company for the death of her husband, as she is the last spouse to sign.

Cooper walks in as she is trying to decide whether to sign. Ariana asks Cooper to review the paperwork, and he agrees.

As he looks over the proposal, Rebecca asks his name. When he reveals who he is, she says, “We’ve been looking everywhere for you.” This ominous line promises a problem for Tommy’s son.

What Is Happening With Tommy?

With the family taking center stage in Landman Episode 7, Tommy has very few plot points that involve only him, one of them being a standoff with the cartel.

The drug cartel is threatening the oil company over the drugs they lost. Although it doesn’t make much sense, it’s a problem that Tommy must address. In this episode, the cartel arrives at the oil field and points a gun at Tommy because he has yet to pay them their extortion money.

Tommy was prepared and had hired many of the local criminals to protect him. Those men pulled their guns, and the cartel backed off.

The business with the cartel is clearly not over.

Besides this, Tommy had a call with Monty, his boss, who promised to expand their empire.
