A Liberal Commentator And A Country Music Star Talk Taxes

Bill Maher, the American comedian, writer, and political commentator, started a podcast called Club Random with Bill Maher about two years ago.

He has featured guests from across the political spectrum, including Jay Leno, Sam Harris, and Matt Gaetz. Maher has also interviewed conservative voices such as Ben Shapiro and Dr. Phil, as well as more liberal counterparts from the entertainment industry.

Maher frequently makes headlines for being a liberal who is critical of the “woke” culture, especially as the host of Real Time with Bill Maher. Recently, he wore an out-of-character plaid button-up while hosting country music star Luke Bryan on his podcast.

Luke Bryan On Bill Maher’s Podcast

The two discussed family life, growing up in Georgia and New Jersey, respectively, as well as topics like hunting, relationships, and politics.

While Luke Bryan is not generally known for being politically outspoken, he expressed frustration about how American tax dollars are used during the podcast. Bryan got uncharacteristically animated while he spoke about the government’s use of American money.

“I just want to be able to go, ‘That’s my damn tax dollars working right there—that’s helping people and making the country a better place.’ But I’ve never—I’ve yet to see it.”

Bryan shared a perspective that many Americans across both political parties share.

Maher confirmed by agreeing with the country music star and saying, “Buddy, I live in a state [California] with 13% tax on every year, and I just had to endure a fire that would have happened anyway but could have been handled a lot better.”

Maher ended by saying, “My 13% tax was not used wisely.”
