As a bridesmaid in Maddie’s upcoming wedding, Tae has been hard at work to help make her best friend’s big day a special one.
During an interview with Taste of Country Nights‘ Sam Alex, Maddie hinted it wouldn’t be long before Tae would take her own walk down the aisle.
“She’s not far behind,” Maddie said.
In that same interview, Tae said that she wouldn’t want a long engagement, and would want to get married soon after her man pops the question.
The man she was talking about was her boyfriend, country songwriter Josh Kerr. Josh has helped pen some of the biggest hits in country music within recent years, including Kelsea Ballerini‘s “Dibs,” and Dylan Scott‘s “My Girl.”
Well, Josh finally called “Dibs” on “His Girl,” because he just proposed to Tae on Labor Day (September 2).
Tae shared the happy news with her fans on both the Maddie & Tae Instagram and her personal Instagram. Josh had a photographer on hand to capture the proposal, and Tae shared some pictures taken from that happy moment.
“can’t wait to love you forever Joshua Peter Kerr WE’RE ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!” she wrote on her personal profile.

Josh also posted about the engagement, and shared some photos that his bride-to-be didn’t share. He also explained the timeline of events that led up to his proposal.
“bought the house. got the ring. asked her dad. got the girl,” he wrote.

Of course, Maddie was over-the-moon excited about her best friend’s big news. She too, took to social media to gush about the engagement.
Through her Instagram Story, Maddie shared a screenshot of Tae’s post, along with her own response. “He put a ring on it!!!” she wrote.
Fans of the duo have been following their respective love stories for years. They even share their love for their men through music, including one of their recent singles, “Friends Don’t.”
To the pair, the title refers to times in their lives when they were just friends with their now-fiancés, but found themselves acting more romantic with each other than friends should. You can watch Maddie & Tae’s music video for “Friends Don’t” below.
Congratulations to Tae and Josh on their engagement! We know that Tae will be a beautiful bride!
