Man Goes Missing After Gator Attacks Him In Hurricane Ida Floodwaters

Some shocking news has come out of Louisiana after a woman reported that her husband was attacked by a large alligator, and then disappeared.

Police said the woman told them that she was inside her home at the time of the attack.

She said she heard some disturbing noises outside around midday Monday (August 30) and went outside to see the large alligator attacking her husband.

“She immediately ran to her husband’s [aid] in an attempt to stop the attack. Once the attacked stopped, she pulled her husband out of the floodwaters, and returned inside to gather first aid supplies,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office (STPSO) said.

The husband’s injuries were so severe that she said she had to leave him on the porch steps and canoed a mile away to call for help because the signal was poor.

When she returned, her husband’s body was no longer on the steps of the porch.

When STPSO finally got to the location they used high water vehicles and boats to look for him but were never able to find him.

The sheriff’s office says there is still an active investigation into the matter but so far no other information is available at this time.

“Sheriff Randy Smith warns residents to be extra vigilant with walking in flooded areas as wildlife has been displaced as well during this storm and alligators and other animals may have moved closer into neighborhoods,” STPSO wrote.
