During its ninth season, The Masked Singer appealed to country music fans by having a country-themed night. The three contestants competing during that round all sang country-themed solos.
Fairy performed Bonnie Raitt‘s “Angel from Montgomery,” Axolotl covered “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” by LeAnn Rimes, and Macaw delivered his take on Tim McGraw‘s “Live Like You Were Dying.”
Special guests appeared throughout the episode to present the contestant’s clues. Those guests included “Strawberry Wine” singer Deana Carter, Blue Collar comedian Bill Engvall, and NFL wide receiver Robert Woods.
Later, Fairy and Macaw competed against each other in the “Battle Royale,” known that night as the “Do-si-do.” They covered another country hit…Shania Twain’s “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
Fairy started off singing first. The judges were impressed with her performance, and could be seen cheering her on.
Then Macaw jumped in and started singing his part. In that moment, the judges realized they had a tough choice to make.
Both performers did an outstanding job. While they loved Fairy from the get-go, the judges couldn’t ignore how Macaw came out there and owned the stage.
In the end, the judges decided to eliminate Fairy, and she unmasked.
We won’t spoil Fairy’s identity here, just in case y’all haven’t had the chance to watch the episode yet. Go ahead and check out the video below to watch her sing “That Don’t Impress Me Much” against Macaw.
The video unfortunately only features a fraction of their performance. But it gives you a good idea of just how great it was!
