Tyler Terryberry and his wife Sheena were taking a drive through their hometown in Parshall, Colorado when a massive male elk decided to pop their tire as they were driving by it.
The footage was captured by Tyler who was driving the vehicle and making his way down a cold and snowy road The bull elk was standing in the middle up ahead.
The incident apparently took place on January 8th and Tyler said that he’s had several encounters with elk over his in his life but this one was quite different.
He’s pulled over many times to admire an elk on the road but this time when he pulled over he was a little closer than usual and paid the price for it.
“If it was my truck she wouldn’t have cared; she would have laughed right along with me. We get pretty close to elk where we’re at, and I’ve been way closer than that, and I’ve never had one try to attack me. It took me by surprise,” Tyler said, accorording to The Meat Eater.
Sheena warned him not to get too not coaxed the elk over to the car, however, it was too late and the elk inflicted some damage on the vehicle that left them with a flat tire.
“She definitely warned me. Every once in a while you find an animal that’s sick, and they don’t usually act right. The (Colorado Division of Wildlife) had to put down a mountain lion near us just a week ago because it was sick and acting weird. Then of course when it happened, it was an ‘I told you so’ moment.”
As they pulled up to the elk it stood there for a moment, it reared its head up and stabbed the front left tire of Tyler’s truck with its antlers.
“The cost was well worth the story, and I’m glad I got it on video because no one would have ever believed me. The bull didn’t get hurt, and it could have been worse. He could have punctured a hole in the radiator or come through the window at me.”
