Glen Powell stars in the highly-anticipated new film Twisters, which premieres July 19th
Actor Glen Powell is gearing up for the official release of Twisters, a “standalone sequel” to the 1996 film Twister. However, amidst the excitement, a small, furry companion threatens to steal his thunder.
Powell adopted a rescue puppy from the Labelle Foundation while working on the feature film. He told Entertainment Weekly:
“I was going through a breakup at the time and was in the middle of Enid, Oklahoma, and I had always wanted a dog. It was something I thought about a lot.”
While in a coffee shop in Enid, the 35-year-old came across a photo of what would be his future pet. He shared that he sent the rescue a “heartbreakingly depressing video” to express how badly he wanted the opportunity to adopt the dog.

Glen Powell drew inspiration from his Texas roots when naming his new pup
Powell was raised in Austin, Texas, and called upon his hometown roots when selecting a name for his adorable rescue dog. After being adopted by the movie star, the small tan and white puppy became known as… Brisket.

Brisket quickly became a staple on the Twisters set
Powell explained that movie sets can be lonely places and that having an animal on set helps bring people together even more. He continued:
“Brisket would just kick it with every department head, and he would sit in my chair and just sleep. I had the most adorable picture of Brisket in my Twisters chair at the rodeo. But he really became sort of a set mascot in that movie. It’s just adorable.”
In fact, Brisket was so involved in the film that he even accompanied his dad to the Los Angeles premiere of Twisters.

Powell calls Brisket a “magical gift” that “brings me so much joy and brings everybody around me joy.”
“There’s something wonderful about animals, about how they can bring our walls down a bit and expedite friendships and things like that. So yeah, Brisket’s been amazing. I consider him the best special feature of Twisters.”
