The Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan shared a couple of photos showing the aftermath of chasing down a speeding driver and finding an alligator in the front seat of the vehicle.

The office said that a Lake County Sheriff’s Office patrol sergeant was patrolling US-10 on Saturday (6/11/22) when observed a vehicle speeding down the road.

“The vehicle fled after a traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle led deputies, and Michigan DNR law enforcement, on a brief pursuit that ended with the vehicle being stuck between two trees on the Rails-To-Trails pathway near S. Forman Rd in Webber Township,” Lake County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook

The driver of the vehicle was said to be a man in his 40s who was from the Oak Park area. He was arrested on the scene, taken into custody, and is now facing several charges for his reckless behaviors.

It was also discovered that the driver had several warrants from another jurisdiction in which he will have to address now that he is caught.

What shocked police the most however is that the man had an alligator named Karen in the passenger seat of his car.

“‘Karen’ the Alligator, attempted to flee the scene, but was taken into custody after a short scuffle. Karen is not facing any charges at this time. We believe she was an unwilling participant during the incident, nor do we believe she was ever in control of the vehicle,” the office joked on Facebook.
