Miranda Lambert Released Western Styled Music Video
Miranda Lambert recently shared a new music video for her song “Run,” which is featured on her album Postcards from Texas. The singer released this new album on September 13, 2024.
In discussing the album, she described it as a letter from her to her listeners. The album consists of 14 songs that feature intimate and vulnerable stories from her life, the lessons she’s learned, and the mistakes she’s made along the way.
She stated, “There’s a lot of bad decisions on this record, but that’s part of growing up. It’s part of the experience, that human experience is figuring it out. You don’t learn from things going great. Throughout this record, there’s a lot of tenderness and living in the moment of the pain. It’s not glorifying it, but explaining.”

Lambert Discusses Her Feelings Behind The Song “Run”
Lambert has always been open about sharing her life through her music. However, she told Today’s Country Radio that “Run” was a song she“wasn’t ever ready to perform.. until now.”
Lambert elaborated on her feelings about the song, stating, “That’s what songs are for, and you may not be ready at that one time to sing about something really raw… but then it can come back around. [It’s] an admission of human error too… It’s an apology, but it’s also a resolve.”
What Is “Run” About?
The song explores the narrative of someone reflecting on a past relationship. The song’s protagonist talks to a past love and shares with them that they were not the problem. The protagonist was always going to run. The last verse of the song says,
“Oh, this freedom I found, babe, sure wasn’t free
I owe you a lifetime of apologies
I’m tellin’ the truth now
I loved you so much
I’m sorry for lyin’ about who I was
I was gonna run
I was gonna run
Ooh, I always was gonna run.”
The music video captures this desire for freedom and the need to escape—or to seek something new—while showcasing Lambert’s newfound passion for horses. The western-themed music video features Lambert in a stunning monochromatic brown outfit inspired by the west, set against a desert landscape with horses running throughout.
There also appears to be a wedding arch and mirrors placed throughout the video, which may symbolize the singer’s journey to finally look at herself and be honest about past relationships highlighted in the song.
When discussing the use of horses in the video, Lambert mentioned, “There is always a sense of freedom when you’re on the back of a horse with the wind in your hair, so it felt really significant to have Cool with me in this video. I love horses because they’re a way to run to something – or away if you need to. I started riding when I turned 30 and wanted to try more things that scared me.”
