She said that he had been playing outside with his siblings when she noticed he was gone and freaked out when she couldn’t find him. She noticed her dog, Buddy, was also missing and feared maybe they ventured off into the woods together.
Police officers and investigators quickly arrive to the scene and started looking for the boy and dog. The K9 units from Suwannee Correctional Institution were also called to help search for them.
After searching for a little bit the Sheriff’s Office got another call from a nearby neighbor saying that he saw a child in the woods with a dog. However, when he tried to approach the boy the dog would not let him get near him. Buddy protected him. Police showed up to the man’s house and were able to get the dog and the boy and drove them back to their home.
“Fortunately, we were able to reunite the child with his mother, thanks in part to ‘man’s best friend’ and an alert neighbor,” Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook. Using hashtags “give that dog a bone,” “man’s best friend,” and “Lassie ain’t got nothing on Buddy.”
