New reports have surfaced about the days and months leading up to Lisa Marie Presley’s death.
According to a report from TMZ, Lisa Marie was back on opioids, an addictions she struggled with secretly for many years.
In the foreword to the 2018 book The United States of Opioids: A Prescription For Liberating A Nation In Pain, Lisa Marie revealed her addiction started after the birth of her twin daughters.

“You may read this and wonder how, after losing people close to me, I also fell prey to opioids,” wrote Lisa Marie. “I was recovering after the [2008] birth of my daughters, Vivienne and Finley, when a doctor prescribed me opioids for pain. It only took a short-term prescription of opioids in the hospital for me to feel the need to keep taking them.”
She credited her four children as her “purpose to heal,” although after she lost her son Benjamin in 2020, her ex-husband Michael Lockwood feared she might relapse, according to court documents.
In the report by TMZ, the site claims that a family source says not only was Lisa Marie back on opioids, she also “got plastic surgery and began taking weight loss meds.”
In the six weeks leading up to her Golden Globes appearance, TMZ says they were told by the same family source that she lost “40-50 pounds.”
Extra reporters say that she looked “unsteady” during her final interview. No comment from any family member has been made about these claims.
