Rob Reiner And His Wife, Michele, Discovered Deceased In Their California Home
Tracy Reiner, the eldest daughter of actor and director Rob Reiner, finds herself in a state of shock following his death.
78-year-old Rob and his wife, 68-year-old Michele Singer Reiner, were found deceased in their home in Brentwood, California, on Sunday (December 14). The couple married in 1989 and shared three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy.
Unnamed sources referenced by Deadline said Rob and Michele suffered stab wounds. “Exclusive sources” told PEOPLE the couple’s son, Nick, killed them in their home. Police have not confirmed this report as of press time.
During a press conference on December 14, LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said, “We are not looking for anyone as a suspect or in any other manner at this time.“
When a press member asked about the reports that police interviewed a family member about the crime, Chief Hamilton responded, “We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation.”

On December 15, The Los Angeles Times published an article relaying that Nick Reiner entered jail “on suspicion of murder.” Records viewed by the Times indicate that Reiner had bail set at $4 million.
The records provide few details beyond the fact that Nick went into custody at 9:15 PM on December 14, before being officially booked at 5:04 AM on December 15.
During a press release on December 15, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said Nick “had been booked for murder,” PEOPLE explains.

Rob rose to fame through his role as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the show All in the Family. He switched his focus to directing, eventually serving as the director on popular films such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men.
Before Michele, Rob married actress and director Penny Marshall (they divorced in 1981). During their union, Rob Reiner adopted Penny’s daughter, Tracy.
Tracy shared her grief and heartbreak over her dad and stepmom’s deaths in a brief statement she provided to NBC News. “I came from the greatest family ever. I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock,” she said.
Tracy told NBC News she last saw her dad at a family gathering held the day before his death.
The Reiner family also addressed Rob and Michele’s deaths in a short statement provided to Variety. However, they did not speak about Nick’s alleged involvement.
Their statement read:
” It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
