Ronnie Dunn Forgets The Words To Morgan Wallen’s Song
Back in July of 2025, Morgan Wallen brought his I’m The Problem stadium tour to Miami for two sold-out nights. Night one featured performances by Miranda Lambert and Gavin Adcock, while night two opened with Gavin again, joined by country music legends Brooks & Dunn.
The biggest surprise came on night two, when Morgan welcomed country icons Brooks & Dunn to the stage for a special rendition of his hit “Whiskey Glasses.” But it seemed Ronnie Dunn needed a little help with the lyrics and at one point, he was seen pulling a piece of paper from his pocket, presumably a cheat sheet to make sure he didn’t miss a word.
Based on the clips, neither Ronnie nor Kix Brooks seemed to sing much, but they added their own flair and had fun with the moment.

Ronnie Dunn Recalls The “Paper Gate” Incident
While there were no hard feelings between Morgan and Ronnie, fans were apparently not pleased over the ordeal. The moment gained a ton of traction on social media, and critics framed it as a sign of disrespect toward Morgan and his music.
So when Ella Langley recently admitted to podcaster Theo Vonn that she had trouble remembering the words while performing a duet with Morgan, Ronnie chimed in to let her know she was not alone. After our very own Country Music Tunes posted the clip, the country singer took to the comment section to stand up for Ella.
“”Paper Gate”…I couldn’t remember the words to Whiskey Glasses last year so I wrote ’em on a small card then at the end of the song threw it out to the audience as a souvenir. Next thing ya know the someone is making it look an act of disrespect….not my intent at all,” Ronnie commented. “Looking forward to going back out with him starting at ALLEGIANT STADIUM / Vegas May 1. Ronnie Dunn / Brooks & Dunn.”
Ronnie made it clear at the time that the moment was never intended as a dig toward Morgan. He explained that he was really just unfamiliar with the song and joked that he’s still even getting the hang of some of his own songs, including “Neon Moon.”
Clearly they are all still big fans of one another as Brooks & Dunn is joining Morgan Wallen on his 2026 run of Still the Problem Tour.
