Ryan Seacrest, the longtime host of American Idol, just reacted to the news of Carrie Underwood being named the newest judge.

Seacrest is a mainstay of the show, having hosted all 22 seasons, 15 on Fox and seven on ABC.

He has always stayed extremely busy, hosting a national radio show on KIIS FM, and producing other shows. When Idol was first brought back by ABC, he was hosting Live! With Kelly and Ryan in New York City and would fly back and forth to do both shows.

Since he left Live!, he was named the host of the Los Angeles-based Wheel Of Fortune, so his commute will be much more manageable this year!

American Idol announced Carrie Underwood as the new judge on Thursday (August 1).

On social media, the show announced, “From #AmericanIdol hopeful, to global icon…to IDOL judge! Home-grown superstar @carrieunderwood will join us for Season 8!”

“the little country girl who i voted for 20million times back in 2005”

“I’M SO EMOTIONAL”

“Best choice ever!! Carrie is my favorite singer ever and I can’t wait to see her on Idol again”

“this is my sign to watch idol again!”

Seacrest took to Instagram and shared two photos of him and Underwood on the Idol stage, the first one being from the night he announced her as the winner of Season 4! Another being one of the times she came back to perform.

“It’s a full-circle moment to go from announcing you as the winner of @americanidol 20 years ago to now welcoming you to the judge’s table. Welcome home, @carrieunderwood!” his post read.

We can’t wait for Season 23, which will premiere in early 2025. See Seacrest’s post below.
